Gleo Concert and Portglenone CCE 40th Anniversary Weekend

Over the weekend of 15th to 17th March 2013 we are marking the 40th anniversary of the formation of the Portglenone CCE Branch. In particular we are commemorating our founding members, Colm and Ann O'Brien, who helped form the branch way back in 1973!!

Weekend events:

Friday 15th -
Concert
Portglenone CCE Junior musicians and guests followed by Gleo.
Gleo are playing in The Riverside Suite At The WILD DUCK INN, PORTGLENONE on Friday 15th March 2013. Concert starting at 8.00pm. Followed by a session!


 

Gleo are an exciting traditional group with the best of Cavan's talent who are guaranteed to deliver a show stopping performance. This group emerged in 2012 and from then, the young group have grown and become a very popular vibrant group. Many of the musicians have been awarded many titles throughout the years from county level right up to All Ireland level. They have displayed their musical talent not only in Ireland but also abroad and some have performed with Comhaltas Tour Groups.


Saturday 16th - 
Irish Traditional Music Workshops from 1pm to 3pm on Saturday 16th March in The Wild Duck in a variety of instruments as well as Sean nos Dancing. See attached registration form.
Regarding the workshops, the following are the tutors/instruments we have for
the workshops:

Aoife Flynn: Sean nos dancing
Katie Flynn: Banjo, Mandolin, Fiddle
Savannah Donohoe: Tin whistle, Flute
Seamus Tierney: Flute, Tin whistle
Gareth Tierney: Guitar
Damien Bannon: Uileann Pipes.

Sunday 17th March -

Commemoration of Founding members, Colm and Ann O'Brien, at 1.30pm in Aughnahoy Graveyard followed by a session at 2pm in The Wild Duck.
