Fleadh 2011 - Junior Session and Singing Session

19 May 2011
A great crowd of our young traditional musicians attended the Junior Session in The Wild Duck on Wednesday evening as part of the Co. Antrim Fleadh celebrations. Accompanied by a few of the local CCE tutors, the juniors played a wide variety of tunes and airs. We also had the odd soloist in between, just to give them the experience of playing before an audience, before they go on to compete in the Fleadh competitions on Saturday morning. The very best of luck to them on Saturday!
It was a great evenings music especially for the very young musicians who have only started learning their chosen instrument last October and here they are eight months later playing in their first big session.

The Junior session was followed by a singing session in the 'Library' of the front bar in The Wild Duck. Many thanks to all our local singers but especially to all those who travelled long distances from the likes of Derry City, Pomeroy and Belfast to be with us for our fleadh celebrations. Many thanks to Tommy Dunn for 'Chairing' our session. As usual Tommy was instrumental in orchestrating such a fine night of Song and craic.
