Final Class of 2025-2026
Monday, March 30, 2026
The final Portglenone CCE class of the year took place on Monday 30th March.
As usual a great number of pupils were in attendance to finish the year with a great group session.
Everyone was also very eager to hear who had won the prestigious awards from the recent 'Mini Fleadh' 2026.
The awards were as follows:
The 'Fr Felix McLaughlin Fiddle Trophy' was presented by our Fiddle Tutor, Marcella Kelly, to Molly Magee.
The 'Portglenone CCE Singing Trophy' was presented by our singing Tutor, Mairead Walls, to Neansaí Ní Chearnaigh.
The 'Portglenone CCE Tin Whistle Trophy' was presented by our Tin Whistle/Flute Tutor, Toyah McKee, to Cahir O'Neill.
The 'Willie McCullough Trophy' was presented by Bodhran Tutor, Charlie Graham, to Kate Laverty.
The 'Most Promising Musician Award' and the Ballinasloe Trophy was presented by Portglenone CCE, Antrim and Ulster Chairman, Eamon Graham, to Dáire Ó Cearnaigh.
Congratulations to all the musicians who took part and made the 'Mini Fleadh' and the last class of the year very enjoyable for everyone especially the very nervous musicians who overcame their fears and played brilliantly.
A special mention goes to all our tutors who work so hard in promoting our musical heritage, especially to our young tutors, Maria, Niamh and Caoimhe, who also help out with the Beginner Session at 6.30pm every Wednesday evening in The Wild Duck Inn.
Many thanks to the Principal of St Mary's Primary School, Mr Eugene Mullan, for the use of the school's facilities over the year to hold the classes on Monday evenings and also to Geoffrey for opening up etc. and looking after us! We look forward to their continued support next year!
Finally, We would like to wish all our musicians the very best of luck in the upcoming County Antrim Fleadh Cheoil being held in Dunloy 18th – 24th May 2026.
